In a deeply emotional tribute, Mandhira Kapur, sister of late industrialist Sanjay Kapur, opened up about not having spoken to her brother for the last four years due to what she called a “minor sibling squabble.” She expressed sorrow and regret in a heartfelt post following his untimely death last month in London, reportedly due to a cardiac arrest triggered by swallowing a bee during a polo match.
Sanjay, aged 53, had been living a relatively private life in recent years with his wife Priya Sachdev Kapur and their young son Azarias. On Sunday, a prayer meet was held in Delhi, drawing together members of his blended family in a rare public moment of unity and grief.
His ex-wife, actress Karisma Kapoor, attended the ceremony along with their children Samaira and Kiaan. Also present were her sister Kareena Kapoor and brother-in-law Saif Ali Khan. In a widely shared photograph, Priya is seen seated in a white suit with folded hands, while Karisma stands behind her, the children gathered around them—presenting a quiet but powerful image of family solidarity.
The image is being interpreted by many as a symbol of grace, maturity, and compassion, particularly as Karisma showed support to Priya and Sanjay’s current family, despite past personal differences.
Mandhira wrote in her tribute:
“We hadn’t spoken in four years. It was just a minor fight between siblings… and now he’s gone. That’s the regret I have to live with. One should never let egos come in the way of love.”
This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the fragile nature of life and the importance of mending bonds before it’s too late.
